- Ian has extensive managerial and leadership experience gained, initially, from a long and varied career in the financial services industry.
Operating, since 2000, as an independent consultant and interim manager; Ian applies his expertise to both the public and private sector, including 'not for profit' organisations. His background in operations, sales, project and training management enables him to work with and through people to deliver meaningful change on both a business and personal level.
His clients encompass a broad spectrum; from small private sector start ups and sole traders, through medium sized enterprises to local and central government departments or agencies and larger private sector organisations.
Ian's style is simple and straightforward; he offers practical and realistic solutions blended with a real understanding and application of management theory. Distilling leadership and management into a series of actions and behaviours that lead to success; he enables individuals to get the best out of themselves, their people and their business.
As a speaker, trainer, mentor and observer of business he is able to find the simplicity in even the most apparently complex subjects, making them accessible and understood at all levels.
He is a prolific writer of articles, distance learning and training materials on leadership and management and is in the process of publishing his first book on the subject.
Ian has an MSc degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
He lives in London and when 'off duty' enjoys travel, walking, the theatre, photography and art, cooking good food using simple but excellent ingredients, wines & malt whisky. He is currently working on a second business book (looking at service) and a fictional novel based in Scotland.
