As a salesman I am amazed at the number of appointments I turn up to to find that the appointee has forgotten that I was coming, mainly because they dont have an Appointments Diary.

How do people expect to run a business if the cannot even remember that someone is calling on them? They must have thought my visit was worthwhile or they would not have agreed to see me. I even go to the trouble of sending an immediate email to confirm the appointment and about a week before the appointment I send a snail mail letter to confirm it again.

The Diary is your time planner as well as a record of upcoming meetings. Using your Diary fully will allow you to check that you are using your time profitably and hence re-adjust your practices if you see your time is being wasted too often.

May be a singing telegramme will be the only way of them remembering that I AM COMMING TO SEE THEM!

I agree Carol. But I dont half get annoyed that they have wasted my time. My time may not be important to them but it surely is to me. Perhaps I should send them an Invoice to cover the time wasted because I was unable to see someone who actually wanted to see me.

I have the same problem with people sometimes. But because I'm looking for people to join my business, when that happens I take it as an early warning that they are likely to be unreliable and am less inclined to pursue them as potential business associates. Carol Harris
