My work with mavericks (wilfully independent people) is often described as herding cats - I've had this video on my Ecademy profile for well over a year now. I think the video is a great way to succinctly demonstrate what I mean when I talk about leadership of this special group of people.! I agree with Carolyn it really is about empowerment of others, and finding a way to flex your own management style to suit the people that you are working with.

Amazing! I wouldn't take such a job for all the money in the world!
Being a leader in the toughest company in the world, looks easy compared to herding cats...
